About me: Jeneth van Leeuwen
11th December 2011
Well here goes. I am 48 years old and have been married to Jacques for 24 years. We have 2 sons, Marc (18) and Craig (12). I live in Glen Anil in Durban.
I started my career as a teacher in Richards Bay and then moved to Durban.
I spent 10 years in a bank because I thought the grass was greener out of education, but saw the light and returned to teaching.
I have been a teacher at Out Lady of Fatima Convent School in Durban North since 2003. I am Head of Academics as well as the co-ordinator for our Interact club (this is the best part of my job)
I teach girls between the ages of 13 and 18. I am not at all sporty but love reading.
Update 20.06.2012
I was born in Ladysmith in KZN. I spent my high school years at Girls Collegiate School (now The Wykham Collegiate) in PMB. After matriculating I studied at the then Natal Technikon and graduated at a teacher in 1984. I spent 4 years teaching at a new school (John Ross College) in Richards Bay.
During this time I married Jacques (also a teacher) in 1986. We moved back to Durban in 1988 and have been living in Glen Anil ever since. I have 2 amazing sons, Marc (born 1992) and Craig (born 1998). Marc returned from a year on Rotary exchange to Sweden in 2011 and is currently studying Software Development at Varsity College and Craig is in Grade 8 at Northwood.
Jacques is the senior deputy principal at George Campbell.
I have been teaching at Our Lady of Fatima Convent School since 2003. Here I teach girls in Grades 9 – 12 Technology and Consumer Studies, am Head of Academics and HOD for the Grades 10 – 12’s. I also oversee the best Interact Club on offer (yes I know I’m biased). I have had a long and very happy relationship with a number of Rotary Clubs through my Interact Club.
