I was born on 26th October 1950.
I grew up in Durban and attended George Campbell Technical High School and then obtained an engineering diploma (NTC5) in Electrical and Industrial Instrumentation.
I have been married to Lindsay for 22 years and we collectively have 5 children, who, in turn, to date, have produced 11 grandchildren.
We both enjoy the outdoors, camping, scuba diving, cycling, playing the odd game of golf and spending time at our Game Lodge. Until recently I enjoyed flying and qualified for my Private Pilot license in 1972.
Lindsay is a qualified Architectural Technician and I have been involved in the Property Development market for the past 26 years.
I have been a Rotarian for 22 years, first joining the Rotary Club of Durban Umgeni where I served in various capacities on the Board as well as president. I was involved in chartering the Probus Club of Mt Edgecombe and in 2004, the Rotary Club of Mount Edgecombe of which I became a charter member.
I am a multiple Paul Harris fellow and Lindsay, who joined Rotary in 2004 as a charter member of the Rotary Club of Mount Edgecombe, is also a Paul Harris fellow.
Together we have created many wonderful memories of Rotary over the past 22 years – hosting Exchange students and Rotarians in Friendship Exchange teams.
We went on a Friendship Exchange to Canada and the USA and joined PDG Natty Moodley on a Polio immunisation mission to India which was a ‘life changing’ experience.
I was President of the Mount Edgecombe club in 2008 – have served on various District committees as well as being an Assistant Governor for 3 years.
I served on the bid committee that unsuccessfully endeavoured to secure the RI Convention for Durban in 2019.
I was intimately involved in the merging of Districts 9270 and 9320 into the new District 9370 and served as the first District Governor of D9370 in 2013/14.
I will take over as District Foundation chair in July 2016 and currently serve as Chairperson of the Governors’ Council of Southern Africa, a post which I will hold for another year.
I also serve on the Board of Rotary in Africa.
